Built in 1870 from rubble masonry, this lime kiln is the oldest of its kind still in existence in the area. The Münsterkull quarry was once located here. In 1966 the furnace was finally shut down and finally placed under monument protection.

The octagonal lime kiln made of quarry stone masonry at the Bilstermühle in today's Klauserwäldchen/Frankenwäldchen nature reserve is the oldest of the kilns still in existence and was built in 1870 next to the "Münsterkull" quarry. The owner of the quarry and the lime kiln was the Kornelimünster Imperial Abbey, and later the parish and provost community of Kornelimünster. After its completion, the quarry and lime kiln were leased to the Lambert Hoven company, which operated both until they were closed.

Between 1920 and 1930, Hoven had the original 6.90 m high kiln increased to 8.60 m, thereby increasing the hopper capacity to 45 m³ and a daily production of 10 to 15 t of quicklime. After a few interruptions during World War II, the plant ran successfully for almost 20 years before it was finally shut down in 1966.

In 1970 the quarry was filled up and the furnace hopper filled up. Together with the "Heimat- und Eifelverein Kornelimünster" it was then restored under the leadership of the Geological Institute of the RWTH and placed under monument protection.
