The Brassert III heap, also called Lipperhöhe, is a tailings dump in Brassert (Marl).[1][2] It is south of the Wesel-Datteln Canal and west of Wulfener Straße. From 1955 to 1992 tailings from the Brassert colliery and the Fürst Leopold colliery were deposited here. Greening was already started while the heap was in operation. It occupies an area of 34 ha and reaches a height of 88 meters above sea level, or 51 meters above the surrounding area. The heap was acquired by the Ruhr Regional Association in 1999 and made accessible to the public. There is a parking lot on the east side. The heap is accessible by two paths. There is a cross on the summit of the Haldenspitze. Once a year, the Brassert clubs celebrate a summer party on the dump.[3] About 1.5 km south-east is the Brassert I/II heap.
