Polder Jockgrim / Wörth
The Wörth / Jockgrim flood retention system is a combination of uncontrolled dike relocation and controlled retention (polders) with an inlet / outlet structure. The entire location is surrounded by a new main Rhine dike, which has the required design height of BHW 200 + 80 cm freeboard. A so-called separating dike with a lower freeboard divides the two retention areas.
The Wörth / Jockgrim location is in the southern district of Germersheim between Wörth and Neupotz, east of the B 9. The retention area extends over an area of around 448 hectares. m³ retention volume), 303 ha can be used as a controlled polder for targeted capping of the high water peak. At the time of operational readiness, around 70% of the total area is used intensively for agriculture. Some of the areas within the controlled flood retention are designated as priority areas for the extraction of raw materials. Gravel and sand have been mined here since 2000.
