Beautiful view to the east over the Zellertal and Worms to the Odenwald. The eagle arch gives the whole thing a nice frame. Display boards explain the history of the arch, which sits enthroned on the volcanic rock of Donnersberg.

The Eagle Arch is a steel triumphal arch on the Moltkefelsen, 545 meters above sea level, on the east flank of the Donnersberg. On a forest path southwest of Dannenfels, a 12.50 meter long steel arch was stretched about 30 meters above the valley floor between two rocky peaks of the Moltkefelsen. The eagle arch is an important testimony to the art-historical development of the monument in the German Empire and the early tourist development of the Donnersberg. The arch is a "product of technology, an iron construction originally intended for bridge building, alienated to a "monument"... "in the dimension of the aesthetic" (Schindlmayr 1982, p. 159). "The harmonious interplay of technology, art and scenic beauty is what makes it so special." (Schindlmayr 1982, p. 159).

Bismarck and Moltke have been back on the Adlerbogen since 18.06.2016. They were destroyed in World War II and now decorate again the side pillars of the Eagle's Arch.

The Eagle Arch was built in 1880 on the former Dorbis Rock in honor of Field Marshal von Moltke. In 1945 the eagle's head was shot off. In 1981 the restored eagle was placed back on the eagle arch.

...Finally, and perfectly staged in terms of drama, you reach the Eagle's Arch just before the end of the path. An absolute top highlight. In addition to the extraordinary building, the beautiful view is also worth mentioning. The place is perfect for a final picnic. If you would rather have a leisurely stop instead, the Kastanienhof in the immediate vicinity is also recommended. There is also a slightly larger space here that offers plenty of parking.

The tour to the eagle arch was worth it. A technical structure that has only been restored since 2016. From here you have a crazy view of the Donnersberger Land.

Beautiful view complimented by the arch. Great point to watch the sunrise in a clear day. We were not lucky :( The fog left for a thick clouds; so after an hour wandering at the spot - we have left with some cool fogy pictures. :)
The hike to this point could be easy or difficult, depends which trail you choose.

A very nice hiking route. But from my point of view, hiking boots are required and you should already have adequate basic fitness. The increase is not without experience for the inexperienced and the ground is just when running down some "scree", so good shoes is mandatory.
