Leer is considered the most important shopping city of East Frisia. It describes itself as a gate Ostfrieslands and is located at intersections of the modes of transport road, rail and river.

The old town is considered the most "valuable" in the region due to the good condition of its historic houses. Four castles, numerous town houses and churches from several centuries can be found in the city.

A really beautiful old town with many great buildings and small but fine shops (such as a crime bookstore or a rockabilly store) and of course the harbor. It is worthwhile to visit Leer! 👍

The first reason to visit Leer is the historic old town. Because of the good condition of the historic buildings, it is considered the most valuable in the north-west. No less than four (4!) castles can be found here in Leer, which indicates the importance of the city in medieval and modern times. The old town looks quaint and cosy. It is great fun to stroll through the old town on the partly historic pavement, to enjoy the many small and attractive shops and bars as well as the sights, especially since the historic harbor directly adjacent increases the overall ambience many times over in its magic. In a nutshell:

The old town of Leer with its pedestrian zone and the many historical buildings as well as the adjacent harbor are a dream of sightseeing. An absolute feel-good place with 100% enjoyment guarantee.
