Beuggen Castle, also Buchem (1215), Buchein (1253), Bivcheim (1253), Büken (1266), Beukheim or Beuken called [1], is a 20 kilometers east of Basel on the Baden-Württemberg bank of the Rhine in the field of City of Rheinfelden (Baden) located in the district of Lörrach former moated castle. The complex served for 560 years as the seat of the Teutonic Order in the Ballei Swabia-Alsace-Burgundy; she is the oldest remaining commander of this order of knights. After the dissolution of the Teutonic Order in 1806, the castle was used as a military hospital during the liberation wars against Napoleon Bonaparte two years. According to one theory, Kaspar Hauser, whose identity is still unknown, lived in the castle between 1815 and 1816 for a year and a half. From 1820 to 1980 it was a children's home.
