beautiful village, together with the Verzasca Dam the second tourist must see in Val Verzasca is this village and the near by roman style bridge.
It is hard to admit but it is awsome! Take a bath in the ice colde water, enjoy the beautiful Rustici and rocks and of course the unique bridge.
Ignore the fact that you are surrounded by many many more like you. Tip: buy the parking license at the Kiosk at the dam.

The village of Lavertezzo in the Verzasca Valley was first mentioned in 1327 under the name Laverteze. In 1913, a bronze axe was found in the municipality. In the Middle Ages, Lavertezzo, like Squadra, probably belonged to the large vicinia Verzasca. The population moved between Lavertezzo and the Terricciuole area, which was under the joint jurisdiction of Locarno, Minusio and Mergoscia. In 1920, part of the Terricciuole was incorporated into Lavertezzo, today's Riazzino.

The industrial village of Riazzino was built on the former winter pastures and vineyards of the farmers from Lavertezzo, more than 10 km away. They practiced a pronounced transhumance with seasonal residences on the edge of the Magadino plain (300 m), in the valley village (550 m), on the mountain pastures (Monti, 1000 m) and Alps (1800 m). Since the change from the town of Lavertezzo Valle to the newly formed municipality of Verzasca on October 18, 2020, Riazzino is the only town in the municipality of Lavertezzo.

On 8 February 2004, the merger of the municipality of Lavertezzo with Brione Verzasca, Corippo, Frasco, Gerra Verzasca, Gordola, Sonogno, Tenero-Contra and Vogorno failed in the referendum, with Lavertezzo voting in favour with 67%.[5] On 14 April 2013, Lavertezzo was the only municipality to reject, with 58%, a merger of its fraction of Lavertezzo Valle with Brione Verzasca, Corippo, Frasco, Gerra Valle (fraction of Cugnasco-Gerra), Sonogno and Vogorno, with Lavertezzo Valle itself voting in favour with 64%, whereas the exclave of Riazzino (Lavertezzo Piano) was the decisive factor in the rejection with 69% no. On 25 August 2015, the Federal Court ruled that a municipality can be forced to merge, but not to divide its territory. This meant that the valley merger in the Verzasca Valley had failed once again.[6] The canton then created new legislation and the municipalities decided on the merger in 2018, which came into force on October 18, 2020.
