The Wartturm above the town of Nierstein, north of the Roter Hang, is the highest vantage point in the vineyards with an excellent panoramic view over Nierstein to the Donnersberg, the Hessian Bergstrasse, the Taunus, Wiesbaden, Mainz and the Rhine-Main area . The stones from the demolished royal chair between Nierstein and Lörzweiler were used for its construction.

Origin of the Watchtower: Medieval signal tower from the 12th century. The watchtower has a height including parapet of 10.2 m.

The watchtower is the Nierstein landmark. Emerging from a medieval signal tower, it served the winegrowers for a long time as an observation and operations center for the annual defense against starlings.

The 11.3 m high watchtower above the community is the highest vantage point in the vineyards. The stones from the demolished Königsstuhl between Nierstein and Lörzweiler were used to build it, where in 1024 the assembly of princes elected Conrad II as the first Salian on the German throne.
For a long time it also served the winegrowers as an observation and operations center for the annual starling defense.
