Beautiful district boundary pillar. Similar to the "Rote Marter", the stone marks the borders of the royal Bavarian forest districts. Here are Buckenhof, Dormitz and Tennenlohe. This stone is a replica, the triangular stone from 1840 was destroyed by tank exercises by the US Army. Nice place with a bench and an information board about the stone.

Notorious Eppelein

The forest was particularly notorious when Eppelein von Gailingen around 1370/80, Kunz Keltsch around 1500 and Hanns von Embs, a friend of the notorious Thomas von Absberg around 1527, were up to mischief here. In 1716, about 30 people with masked faces broke into what was then Wolfsfelden Castle (on the road from Neunhof to Kalchreuth), tied the people's hands and feet, robbed the residents and left them in their blood - according to a report to. The criminals were never discovered although the imperial city of Nuremberg offered a reward of 100 guilders. Twelve robbers also attacked a stagecoach in the Tennenloh Forest in 1723 and plundered the travelers entirely.
