The "Yach" (Eyach) was first mentioned in 1148. The settlement arose around the Mahlmühle ("Eyachmühle"), the "Lehensägmühle" and the former Dobler village sawmill. The first sawmill at this location is mentioned in 1423. However, there is evidence of the use of hydropower from the Eyach from earlier centuries.

The Eyachmühle, after which the district is named, ceased operations in 1894 when the water power of the Mannenbach, which drove it, was used for the pumping station of the Dobler drinking water supply. It was converted to the "economy". Since then, the "Eyachmühle" inn has been a well-known tourist destination.

The Eyachmühle is the starting point for hikes and bike tours in the Eyachtal nature reserve and in the large, closed forest area up to the high moors on the Kaltenbronn.
