The name 'Den brandt' probably refers to a 'burnt down spot', an earlier reclamation method in which pieces of heath and forest were burned down and then turned into agricultural land.

Park Den Brandt comprises two completely different garden styles. The garden area in front of the castle consists of a regular French garden. The part behind the castle is in English landscape style. Winding footpaths take you past both sunny and shady spots.

In Park Den Brandt you don't need much imagination to imagine yourself in the TV series Downtown Abbey. You enter through a stately entrance through a sleek French garden. The path leads you to the castle, whose origins date back to 1790. Behind the castle is a park in English landscape style. Music lovers enjoy Jazz Middelheim here every year.
The Park Den Brandt domain has even more to offer. Walk along the avenues and paths under the sometimes impressive trees. Find the cute English cottage with thatched roof. Or look for the reproduction of Michelangelo's David statue, better known in Antwerp as the Naked David. Also worth a visit: the bunker museum, located in a former regional headquarters of the Atlantic Wall.
