There are many mountains that share this name, but this particular Càrn Dearg in a Munro that rises to the north east of Rannoch Moor and hits 3,087 feet (941 m). Immediately south of Loch Ossian, it’s connected to its sister Munro, Sgor Ghaibre, via a grassy ridge so if weather permits, it’s easy to bag two majestic Munros in one expedition.

Carn Dearg is a 941m Munro mountain in the Scottish Highlands. It sits to the south of Loch Ossian and we climbed it in awful weather conditions from Loch Ossian 'green' youth hostel on a day in August 2019. Had the weather been kinder to us we would have experienced wonderful views to the surrounding hills - Bin na Lap, Sgorr Gaibhre, Beinn Eibhinn and Ben Alder.
