The heathland with the "natural wonder Birkenbank" leads on the "Kantor Schulz Trail" to a particularly impressive group of birches, which offers a wonderful view of the heathland and over the treetops from the lofty terminal moraine ridge.

It was also the Schulz family's favorite place. Cantor Heinrich Schulz worked in Egestorf from 1902 to 1928 as a teacher and headmaster, choir director and organist and was also known in the wider area as a chronicler and local historian. He wanted to make his beloved new home with its beautiful landscape accessible to everyone. In 1910 he founded the 'Beautification Association' (now the Tourist Association), which set itself the task of creating the village park. Hiking trails were created, benches were set up, etc.

The tranquil heathland "Birkenbank" is located directly next to a small free car park and is therefore ideal for a short break in idyllic nature. Beautifully situated benches and a picnic area invite you to linger and take a deep breath.
