The Antholzer See is located at the end of the Antholzer valley, at the foot of the Staller Sattel, at an altitude of 1642m. With an area of 43 hectares and a depth of 43 m, it is the third largest lake in South Tyrol. You can walk around the lake on a path that is about 3.5 km long, with a difference in altitude of about 90 m.

The mountain lake is the scenic highlight of the Anterselva Valley, it lies at an altitude of 1,642 m. With its turquoise-green water and the wonderful mountains of the Rieserferner Ahrn Nature Park that surrounds it, it is one of the most popular excursion destinations, along with the Pragser Wildsee in the Puster Valley.

With its turquoise-green water and the wonderful mountains of the Rieserferner Ahrn Nature Park that surrounds it, it is one of the most popular destinations in the Puster Valley, along with the Pragser Wildsee. It is the third largest natural lake in South Tyrol and can be completely circumnavigated.

Those arriving by car should not park at the Olympic Park/Biathlon Stadium. It costs 8 € (09.2022) and is only possible between 8:30 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Continue towards the mountains to the Seehaus or to the other end of the lake and park at the hiking car park at the Seebad restaurant.

Lake Antholz lies below the Ställe saddle and is surrounded by mountains. It appears in different colors depending on the time of day. From light green to turquoise to a deep blue. So it's worth going there more often. The car park below the biathlon school is free of charge and open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. until around mid-June (but ask at the tourist office to be sure).

Beautiful mountain lake. Best view when hiking to the Staller saddle. Easy to walk paths, a bit steep in places. If you start from the top (coming from the Felbertauern) plan for the single-lane road regulation of the pass road (only 15 minutes each) passable in one direction. Waiting time can be compensated well with a lap around the Obersee;)
