This is a great walk to do when you're in Okarito. Head up to the Trig for some great views, then backtrack and follow along the Three Mile Pack Track. Make sure to check the tides as with low tide you can return via the beach.

Follow the Ōkārito Wetland Walk before continuing through coastal forest and over the Kohuamarua Bluff. The route meanders through windswept rimu, rata and silver pine forests before dropping down to Three Mile Lagoon - a sheltered estuary. A bridge crosses the lagoon, but there is no path past this point.
You can - at low tide - walk back across the beach, but you should first find out about the tide level on the plan at the parking lot.
