                                    The legend of the robber barons at Güntersburg Castle:
                                    Many centuries ago, a notorious robber baron lived at Güntersburg Castle, raiding and plundering passing merchants. A sorcerer living in a cave in the castle's rock heard of these raids and lurked near his castle to catch him in the act and put a stop to his trade. One evening, a merchant set out from Nordhausen to Quedlinburg and rode past the infamous castle. He was accompanied by his daughter in man's clothing. But the gatekeeper spotted the two in the darkness and blew his horn loudly. A short time later, the unfortunate men were surrounded by a wild pack, which robbed them, pushed the fatally wounded father to the side of the road, and abducted the girl to the castle. The magician then caused the castle and all its inhabitants to sink in an earthquake.
