Wilhelm Küchler Memorial (1904) - Worms 🚴‍♂️

This bronze monument honoring Wilhelm Küchler was dedicated in 1904 according to plans by Johannes Hirt (1859-1917). Wilhelm Küchler (1846-1900) served as mayor of Worms from 1882 and then as Lord Mayor from 1888. He remained in this position until 1898, after which he moved to Darmstadt as President of the Grand Ducal Hessian Ministry of Finance.

Due to throat cancer, he resigned from office in 1900 and died that same year. He was laid to rest in the Old Cemetery in Darmstadt. Barbarossaplatz

The memorial is located on a Küchlerplatz between the Nibelungen Bridge and the Ernst Ludwig School 🚴‍♂️

Attention! The city of Worms erected gray concrete plinths / benches on this forecourt. These stand out very poorly from the gray floor covering. Especially when you come down the path from the Nibelungen Bridge.

The Küchler memorial in honor of the former Mayor of Worms and honorary citizen Wilhelm Küchler stands on Küchlerplatz in the Rhineland-Palatinate city of Worms. [1] It is the first monument erected in Worms in the 20th century that was erected without a military context.
