The hike to the Riesloch Gorge near Bodenmais is one of the most beautiful and impressive hikes in the Bavarian Forest. The 200 m high waterfalls are considered to be the highest in the entire Bavarian Forest.

The Riesloch Gorge with its waterfalls is always worthwhile, especially for children this hike is very varied and interesting. There is a lot to discover.

Really always a highlight and a must in the Bavarian Forest.
But BEWARE in winter. It can be very slippery and icy so good footwear and I would recommend taking gear with you to be on the safe side.

At the highest point, the water falls 15 m below the surface. The hiking trail leads through the nature reserve right next to the Rissbach through the forest, the partly stony and slippery hiking trail requires good footwear and surefootedness. But you will be rewarded with impressive views of the beautiful Rissloch Falls

You should definitely visit this area with the Riesloch waterfalls. I went jogging once and hiked with the family the next day. Very interesting for children! But also for the big ones!

Easy tour with children: The hiking trail is marked with the green 2, at the end of the forest road take the left path "Steiniger Weg" to the lower Wasserstube, cross the bridge and climb left at the waterfalls to the upper Wasserstube, over the upper bridge then down to the Descend past the waterfalls towards the parking lot.
Difficulty level of the hike: moderately difficult hike with a normal level of fitness, but sturdy hiking boots are recommended because some of the paths are rocky and rooty. This short hiking route is also suitable for families with children
Altitude difference on the hiking tour: a difference in altitude of approx. 220 meters has to be overcome.

There are two ways to hike the Rissloch Falls, here the
I recommend:

The "comfortable" hike: Rissloch Falls from Schönebene
Exciting tour without major climbs
Starting point: Schönebene hiking car park / length: approx. 6.5 km / hiking time: 2 hours, 96 m elevation gain (easy)

The Riesloch Waterfalls are located c. 2 km northeast of Bodenmais.
A beautiful tour is from bodenmais - through the gorge of the Riesloch falls on to the Großer Arber.
