Cidade Velha is the former capital of the island of Santiago. Here the settlement of the Cape Verde Islands by the Portuguese began. The beach, the port of the historic city on the Atlantic Ocean, is a great start for a trip to the "Islands of the Green Cape".

Old capital of Cape Verde. The old town is nice, but small, it's half an hour through it. A couple of nice bars right by the sea.

@Mandelkern: We were there in 2013 too. The blue house looked a little better back then. All in all, it was an unforgettable experience.
