In the Middle Ages, the “1000-year-old linden tree” standing in front of the town probably had the function of a court linden tree and marked the location of the courthouse on the Ems. Today it is one of the most important living natural monuments in the Rhine-Taunus Nature Park and was placed under monument protection in 1928. The tree is deeply split. To save it, a central steel column was erected to hold the fragments of the tree using a multitude of steel cables. The trunk circumference is almost 15 meters.

The summer linden tree in Waldems-Reinborn has the title of the thickest original tree in Hesse with a trunk circumference of 15 m (around 1.30 m high). This is what the dendrologists Manfred Wessel and Siegfried Gand measured. (Source: hessenschau 4/25/23)

We also recommend the circular route starting at the church with the Canticle of the Sun of St. Francis. A very nice circular route around five kilometers long with various stations.
