The ladder asks us whether we as humanity always strive upwards
and want to conquer the sky, as in the stories about the tower building at Babel and
is told by Ikarus. We always want to use all our might and that means up
Cost others high? Both stories tell of this striving and
their catastrophic end.
In the biblical narrative tradition, the ladder becomes a symbol that it is different
can go. A refugee (Jakob) sees a ladder with one in a dream
Movement of love from top to bottom. It’s not against each other that leads to life
but togetherness. It is not competition that makes people happy, but sharing. So it says
the way up for fratricide, like the story of Cain and Abel
in front of your eyes. While the way down stands for the reconciliation to which the
Hope stories from Jakob and Esau. The ladder is like a touchstone that asks
what experiences we give weight in our life.
The path of peace shows us the consequences of our decision.
