The Weser weir in Hameln - or THE weirs, because there is an upper and a lower weir - has it all: there are four buildings of interest here: the gate mill and three locks, the newest of which dates back to 1931/33 now used for shipping.

The two oldest locks:

The first lock from 1732 no longer exists.

The second lock from 1868/1873 (the year the empire was founded proudly emblazoned on the chief) is still there.

The swing bridge is also interesting. It was probably intended to make the part of the island separated by the sluice construction accessible to carriages - the sluice walls were a good place to store the bridge. Of course, it had to be rotatable in order not to limit the passage height when the lock was flooded.

The lower gate no longer exists - there is a small hydroelectric power station here today, which makes a lot of sense.
