Historical
The knight seat in Oppach was built in the 13th century. The former moated castle was on a specially raised hill next to the castle pond south of the castle. In the 15th century, the Lords of Rechenberg took over the knight seat in Oppach, and the manor was divided among them. Both manors were reunited in 1696 under Johann Caspar von Nostitz. The manor remained in the possession of his descendants until 1945.
Around 1790 the last remains of the former moated castle were removed. In the same year, the castle that exists today was rebuilt, presumably including the foundation walls of an existing farm building. Conversions took place in 1844 under Eduard Gottlob von Nostitz and Jänckendorf. In 1858 he bequeathed the manor to his son, whose widow Ida married Hermann von Nostitz-Walldorf for the second time in 1872.

After 1945
After the owners were expropriated in 1945, Oppach Castle was used to accommodate resettlers. In the following years, Oppach Castle was used as a day-care center for children. The former appearance of the castle was changed through renovations.
