Schwanheim is a district of the municipality of Schönbrunn.
The municipality of Schönbrunn consists of the five districts of Allemühl, Haag, Moosbrunn, Schönbrunn and Schwanheim.
The place is mentioned for the first time in a document as Schwanden. Allemühl is also mentioned for the first time in the same document. The place arose in the area of an already existing Zentwald, which led to complicated rulership and district conditions. Schwanheim originally belonged to the Stüber Zent and came to the Electoral Palatinate around 1380. Local rule was exercised by the former imperial castles of Minneburg, Schwarzach and Helmstadt.

Schwanheim is not exactly the place that is overflowing with sights, but it is definitely recommended as a starting point for hikes in the "Small Odenwald".
