    A beautiful park. Unfortunately, this year there was no money available for creating the dahlia arch, so the dahlias can only be viewed in the Paul Panzer nursery.

      The Köstritzer Park is located on the Weißen Elster. In the park are some wooden sculptures, a temple and an animal enclosure. The dahlia arch also borders. The bike path also leads through the park. This is very popular.

            After 1704, a representative baroque garden was created at the castle of the former Reußisches Paragium Köstritz. Finally, the art-loving Count Heinrich 43. Reuß j.L (1759-1814) laid out a spacious landscape park based on the English model in the second half of the 18th century. In 1830 the Princely Brewery was set up in the western castle complex and existed there until 1908.

            The classicist temple is one of the most striking park architectures. The statue represents the Greek earth goddess DEMETER. Covering an area of over 30 hectares, this park also includes the Elsteraue. There has also been an animal enclosure since 1960/61.

            The park is one of the sights on the Vögte Cultural Trail (Stage 2 - Around Gera). St. Leonhard's Church is nearby. All that remains of the Köstritz Castle itself is the gatehouse with tower and a sundial in the inner courtyard. The restaurant “Zum Schlossgeist” now invites its visitors to the gatehouse.
