The Joh. Wilh. von Eicken GmbH is one of the few independent family businesses in Germany that manufactures all tobacco products from raw tobacco to the end product.
The company's roots go back to the year 1770, when Johann Wilhelm von Eicken started producing tobacco in Mülheim an der Ruhr.

In addition to the Beiersdorf Group on Unnastraße, Hoheluft-West has had the tobacco factory in Eicken since 1903, west of Hoheluftchaussee. The building, which has been a listed building since 1986, and which temporarily housed the Lokal Factory, is still almost unchanged.
