Gunung Galunggung is a nice half-day trip from Tasikmalaya (approx. 17 km). Depending on from which parking lot the hike is started and how many viewpoints along the ridge are visited, its length varies between ten and two kilometers. Most of the way up is on a paved road, followed by one of two possible staircases. The way to the blue staircase (southern side of the ridge) is the steeper one. The path on top is a well maintained hiking path and offers many views of the valley and towards the volcano. Entrance fee is 10.000 IDR per person, additional parking fee.
