If you hike to the Geierstein, you have to be patient to catch a wonderful view. The mountain is forested up to the summit - a pleasantly shady climb in midsummer. But when you get to the top, it's all the more worthwhile. On the way there is a lookout rock for sure-footed people and a head for heights, which towers above the Isar valley. The summit is a quiet and beautiful alternative to the popular tours around the Lenggrieser Hütte. With a little luck you can experience the summit and the wonderful view in lonely silence.

Not a spectacular summit, little space to take a break. But beautiful paths from both sides to the summit. It's best to have a snack a little away from the summit (from the cross towards Fockenstein) 🏔🥪

The Geierstein is an absolute highlight in Lenggries. Opposite the much visited Brauneck, the rugged summit rises above Lenggries. The climb is in the forest until the end, so that the tour is well feasible even in summer. The last few meters to the summit must be walked through rocky, sometimes steep terrain with easy short climbing passages. Absolute surefootedness, a head for heights and alpine experience are required here. If the last meters are overcome then rewarded a magnificent view of the Brauneck, the surrounding mountains and Lenggries in the valley for the climb.

Can only agree with my previous visitor. I'm firm but afraid of heights. Was sometimes very critical on the way up. We are up to the summit cross. Our first summit book entry. The courage was rewarded with a great view. Actually we wanted to go down on the other side but the transition behind the summit cross water was too delicate. So are gone. Was great anyway.

Muddy through the bushes that you must go through. The paths are small and gave you lot of fun to go through. Not recommend if you don’t prepare for climbing at the end before reaching the peak

The Geierstein (1491 m) near Lenggries may not be a particularly scenic climb (it's quite steep throughout and slippery in the rain), but it does offer a particularly beautiful view of the Isar Valley and the Alpine foothills around Bad Tölz. In the Lenggrieser Hütte catchment area, the Geierstein is rarely visited, unlike its neighbors, the Fockenstein (near Aueralm) and the Seekarkreuz. The descent begins with a pleasant but short ridge hike, initially leading to gentle alpine pastures, then back down to the valley via a gentle and beautiful forest path (Maximiliansweg).
