    The history of the passage on the Adda to Rivolta is rather troubled. Already in the Middle Ages, wooden walkways were built on several occasions to allow the passage of the river; the crossing was also guaranteed, in lean periods, by rudimentary rafts-ferries or by the boats of the fishermen and sand and stone quarrymen of the area.
    In 1866 they accepted the proposal of Eng. Milesi to use "the cement of the Val Seriana recently discovered and applied to buildings." Together with the basilica, the new bridge had become the pride of the Rivoltani and represented a concrete hope for the development of the whole territory.
    Unfortunately, the Bergamo hydraulic concrete bridge was not very lucky: in the night between 9 and 10 October 1868, a flood of the river overwhelmed the bridge. Rebuilt several times, it finally collapsed on November 22, 1951. The last pylons in the water collapsed in 2005 during the consolidation works.
    To date, only some of the arches resting on the ground remain.

      The old bridge of Rivolta d'Adda was built in 1867. Made of hydraulic concrete, it was about 163 meters long, divided into sixteen arches. It had to connect the town with the opposite bank of the river, joining the provinces of Cremona and Milan. 6 years after construction, the bridge had already partially collapsed. The reconstruction work began in 1874 and consisted in the construction of an iron link, subsequently demolished. The part still visible today is the original one.

The central pylon was sinking slowly into the river bed and with this a section of the bridge about fifteen meters long is folding in on itself and closing like the pages of a book.
