The Viendorf fortress once stood on the site of today's Schönborn Palace. It belonged to the Sonnbergers, who sold it to the Puchheimers in 1384. From 1390 the fortified manor was called Mühlburg. The eponymous grand mill only ceased operations in 1891. Vice-Chancellor Friedrich Karl Graf Schönborn bought the reign of Göllersdorf, which also included the Mühlburg, from the Wiener Neustädter Bishop and the last representative of his family, Count Franz Anton Puchheim, in 1710. The Mühlbach there should still prove to be very useful when creating the water features in the park. Friedrich Karl did not like the already outdated castle of Göllersdorf. He decided to have a new country residence built on the site of the Mühlburg as the center of his extensive property. 1712 began with the expansion of the old building into a large baroque castle.
The park is largely used as a golf course. The Schönborn-Buchheim estate administration is housed in the outbuildings. The castle still belongs to the Schönborn-Buchheim family.
Viewing: only possible from the outside. Because of its use as a golf course, the park may only be entered by club members. The restaurant is also accessible to non-members.
