The church in Marienberghausen has components from three eras: the church tower from around 1200 with a baroque dome that was added after a fire, the nave from the 17th century, which was also renovated after this fire, and the late Gothic choir. The painting in Marienberghausen is subject to a uniform program. In the crossing vault four large angels hold the instruments of Christ's suffering. The Last Judgment is painted on the east wall of the choir with a detailed description of the heavenly zone, including the fight between the Archangel Michael and a devil for a soul, as well as the area of hell, where devils drastically transport the damned towards hell with a wheelbarrow and dungfork. In the jaws of hell, more damned people sit tightly packed, their eyes and mouths wide open in fear. Below the Last Judgment, as in each of the colorful churches, are the apostles as witnesses to the Last Supper and as assessors of the Last Judgment. The Last Judgment also includes the soul scales on the northern choir wall, where the scales with the soul remain heavier despite all the devil's efforts. There are depictions of saints in the two transepts. In the south transept there are the holy ones. Anthony and George and four other male saints, in the north transept of St. Hubertus and Mary Annunciation and four female saints. As a special feature, the painting in Marienberghausen features small drolleries in the crossing vault, such as a pig blowing the bagpipes or a hunter aiming at a squirrel that is covering its ears.
