At the Wendefurth dam, you can expect not only the view from the stamping point of the Harzer hiking nobility, but also the possibility of wall running, which is offered here, as well as boat rental. Food and drink are also possible. Below the wall are exhibits of turbine technology. The Harzer-Hexen-Stieg leads over the dam and goes a few hundred meters further into the famous Bodetal. There are parking spaces at the entrance to the dam.

This vantage point is on the path that runs slightly above the Harzer-Hexen-Stieg. From here you have a better view, because not too many trees are in the way. Path is apparently committed little.

The Wendefurth dam has a lot to offer .; from wall running and visiting the adjacent machine park to boat trips to the stamping point of the Harz hiking pin.

Stamp point for HWN fans.
The stamping point cannot be found directly at the dam. It is located above the dam. There are two ways to get to the stamp box; either leisurely on the hiking trail or a little steeper through the bush.

The Wendefurth dam is located between Blankenburg and Hasselfelde above the B 81.

The dam is part of the Bodewerk multifunctional facility. It is used for flood protection, low water elevation, power generation and is also the lower reservoir for the pumped storage plant.

The upper reservoir on the Kohlenberg has a storage capacity of 2 million cubic meters. When the power plants experience a shortage of electrical power, the water from the upper reservoir is channeled to the turbines via two 12-foot (3.4 m) diameter downcomers, and 80 megawatts of electricity can be generated. If, on the other hand, there is a surplus in the power stations, the water is pumped back into the upper reservoir.

At the same time, the Wendefurth dam is also used for local recreation and tourism in the Harz Mountains. The floating restaurant "Zum Hecht" offers boat rentals as well as raft trips with meals.

Adrenaline addicts can whiz through the air attached to a double rope at a height of 120 meters and a length of 1 km on the dam wall or run down the 43 meter high dam wall with a rope.

The car park can be reached directly from the B 81 through Wendefurth. You cross the dam wall and follow the Harzer Hexenstieg to the Talsperreblick vantage point with the stamp box. From here you have an outstanding view of the reservoir and the pumped storage plant.
