I came to Rhens via the RheinBurgenWeg. Stage Koblenz-Rhens. You enter the Viehtor and find yourself in the old town with its impressive medieval city walls, old half-timbered houses and the remains of medieval fortification towers. Very beautiful!

In addition to the market square with the ox fountain and various picturesque half-timbered buildings, you should stop by the Königsstuhl in Rhens on the Rhine. From 1273 onwards, the electors met here for preliminary discussions on the election of the German king. In 1346, the first royal election took place at the Königsstuhl in Rhens with the election of Charles IV. At the end of the 14th century, a building was built on which the electors were to name the future king.

After its destruction in the chaos of the Napoleonic Wars in 1795, the Königsstuhl was dismantled in 1806 and rebuilt in 1842 by the master builder Johann Claudius von Lassaulx.
