In the vicinity of the glacier gate one finds - if one looks well - the most beautiful and finely cut stones. The glacier gate has now become very shallow (2016). Beware of rockfalls if you move too close to the slope near the glacier.

The short detour of 20-30 minutes is definitely worth it. On the one hand, the large mass of hut visitors walk up and down the same path and on the other hand, you have a wonderful view of the Hochferner and walk through impressive moraine terrain, mostly flat or slightly sloping.
