Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen is a royal Buddhist temple in the Phasi Charoen district of Bangkok, Thailand. The name "Wat Paknam" means "temple at the mouth of the river" and refers to its location at the confluence of several khlongs.
The temple was founded in 1610 during the Ayutthaya period and received patronage from Thai kings until the late 19th century. However, by the early 20th century, the temple had fallen into disrepair and had no abbot. This changed when Luang Pu Sodh Candasaro was appointed abbot in 1916. Under his leadership, the temple experienced a renaissance and became a center for learning and meditation.
One of the temple's main attractions is the Maharatchamongkhon Stupa, an 80-meter-high, five-story structure completed in 2012. Inside the stupa is an impressive emerald-green glass pagoda housing Buddhist relics.
Another notable feature is the bronze Buddha statue "Phra Buddha Dhammakāya Thepmongkhon," which is 69 meters high and 40 meters wide. Completed in 2021, the statue is decorated with gold. It depicts the Buddha in a meditative posture and is an impressive landmark visible from various points in Bangkok.
