In spring, the 63 hectare park is fascinating with a sea of blooming wood anemones and in autumn with the play of colors of the leaves. The Fredenbaum Park, as the green lung of the northern part of the city, is a core area for leisure, recreation and sport. The Fredenbaum is therefore very popular with the citizens.

Beautiful, large park with lots of opportunities for leisure activities.

Large playgrounds for children, meadows, cycle/walking paths, boat pond, model boat pond, mini golf and so on......... There should really be something for everyone.

And in summer, the large trees provide wonderful shade.

Nutrias have settled in Dortmund's Fredenbaum Park.

Nutrias are swamp beavers and actually come from South America. They were shipped to Europe more than 100 years ago to promote mushroom farming or to keep the fish farming ponds free of reeds.

But nobody knows exactly why the nutrias are now at home in the Fredenbaum Park in Dortmund.

But they seem to feel very comfortable here, because they are multiplying well. Let's hope they don't become a problem here!
