In 1734 the fortress was blown up, again under French occupation. The castle ruins then served as a quarry for the people of Kirn.
As an open-air stage, the castle ruins offer a dramatic backdrop for cultural events. In recent years, several operas (especially by Giuseppe Verdi) have been performed there, and various theater performances, concerts and festivities also take place.
In the middle of the ruins there is also a wedding room for weddings.
The garrison house was built in 1764, which now houses the Kyrburg restaurant and the whisky museum in the basement.

From Kyrburg you have a wonderful overview of Kirn. Unfortunately, the café is closed on Mondays only, otherwise you can enjoy the view there with a cup of coffee.
