The Drubbel in the Westphalian city of Münster was a collection of ten residential and commercial buildings. History As a special feature, they stood directly north-west of the Lamberti Church in the middle of the Roggenmarkt street, which was built on in the middle of the 10th century.

The drubbing was on the rye market in the shadow of the Lamberti Church. The term 'drubbel' comes from Low German and means 'tightly packed'. Because in a very confined space, it was only 441 square meters, there were 10 residential and commercial buildings. The smallest house had a floor space of little more than 20 square meters.
Recent research suggests that the rye market was not built until the end of the 13th century. The episcopal mint was located in the Drubbel until 1712.
For the tram, the narrowest part of the passage was only 3-4 meters wide. The cyclists were asked to get off, other vehicles, back then they were horse-drawn carts, were only allowed to drive at walking pace (see sign on the left of the building).

The demolition
After a fire - rumored to have been started - the buildings were demolished in 1906/07. The motive for this decision was probably the traffic-related problem of the extremely narrow width.
When Kaiser Wilhelm II rode past Drubbel on his visit in 1907, the remains of the houses that were being demolished had been covered with white cloths (top center). Garlands had been attached as festive decorations. Has the emperor registered it?
