Very idyllic pond in the "Karlslust". For refreshment there is the Karlsberg spring and a Kneipp facility about 200 meters further up. Another ten minutes further up the ruins of the orangery. This is a good starting point for many beautiful hikes. Karlbergweiher can be reached on foot in 15 minutes from the Sandorf forest car park.

The shape of the Karlsbergweiher pond has undergone a number of changes over the past 200 years: in the late 18th century, with its trapezoidal basin, to which several terraces led down, it was a beautifully designed piece of nature. On the sunlit left side of the pond, the Duke had vines grown on the slopes. All that remains of these are the chestnut trees that were planted for the vineyards. In the first half of the 20th century, it served as a swimming pool for the local population, with the addition of a primary settling tank and a staircase. Finally, in 2002, the banks and the central island were renovated. Today, the pond is part of the Schlossbergtour premium hiking trail and is an inviting place to linger.
