The old town of Tavira is really worth seeing and very old. You must walk over the old Roman historical bridge. Then on the way up to the Castello, which is not really that high, go into the Municipal Museum of Tavira! Well worth seeing! Archaeology, culture from all eras and excavation objects can be viewed chronologically. Very lovingly and detailed arranged! Entry only 2 euros! From the museum up in the inner courtyard you have an amazing view of the city. Just behind the museum you reach the Castello with a beautifully landscaped garden. Opening times of the Castello vary depending on the season.

Tavira is often called the "Venice of the Algarve." While the comparison is somewhat exaggerated, the town on the banks of the Gilão River certainly has nothing to hide. Numerous sights await exploration in the pretty old town.
