The traditional recreational area around Lake Auensee in north-western Leipzig emerged from an amusement park founded over ninety years ago.

The scenic area with its Auwaldresten, the orchards and wetlands is still one of the most famous and popular destinations of Leipzig and their guests. It is located completely in the nature reserve "Leipziger Auwald".

Today you can find various opportunities for sports, games and entertainment in the area around the Auensee.

Half of the park is water surface and can be experienced with a boat in the true sense of the word. If you are cycling or walking, you will reach the Domholzschänke after 1.5 kilometers and reach the Rosental valley almost exclusively in the countryside through charming park landscapes.

The recreation area around Lake Auensee is only about 5 kilometers away from the city center. From the city center, the area is conveniently accessible via the B6.

Haus Auensee invites you to various events or to linger on the patio.

The former Luna Park, a very nice destination. The only surviving Wilhelminian building is Haus Auensee. Unfortunately the lake has not been released for bathing since the seventies.

In 1914 an amusement park was created here, the Luna Park. This was forcibly auctioned in 1931. From him only the main restaurant was preserved, which was renamed in 1936 in Haus Auensee.

To the comment of Daniel Motion: From Auensee to Domholzschänke 1.5 km, that's not true. At about this distance was formerly the restaurant "The Wild Man", but burnt down decades ago. Today is at this place a forest playground. About 3 km from Auensee you will find the restaurant "Waldeslust".
The Domholzschänke is located about 9km to the east. The way there always leads along the Neue Luppe and is highly recommended. The Domholzschänke is currently closed. There should still be a snack.
