Hikes to Blà Bheinn rank amongst the finest in Britain. This majestic outlier of the Black Cuillin ridge was described by Skye’s mountaineering pioneer Alexander Nicolson as the finest single mountain on the island. Better still, unlike many of the Munros on the main ridge, it is possible to reach Blà Bheinn’s summit without delving into the nervy ground of high-end scrambling.

The views and the climb up to Blà Bheinn are exceptional. The ascent from the west starts pretty harmless, then leads over a ridge to the first lower summit at 3,038 feet (926 m). From there, you have to scramble down a gully to the gap between the two summits. Be careful when you climb up to the true summit at 3,048 feet (929 m). From the top, you get a great view over Loch Scavaig.

Skye’s sublime outlier, Blà Bheinn might just serve up the best view in all of Scotland. From Loch Slapin, it's a steep scramble over grippy gabbro rock to the crown of ‘the Blue Mountain’ – and from here the spiky wonders of the Black Cuillin ridge rise deliciously into view ahead.

This is one of my favorite mountains in the UK. The views from the top are incredible. Some scrambling going to the top but really not that hard

Climbed this superb hill yesterday, taking a chance by climbing up through hill fog. I was rewarded with a stunning inversion with only the Cuillin standing above a White sea of cloud. It was truly beautiful and something I will remember for the rest of my days.

We did the loop clockwise. It was a sublime hike with a fun scramble on the western ascent and magnificent views from both peaks! There is also a short but treacherous scramble descent between the lower peak and Bla Bheinn that the map doesn’t pick up on.
!!Important!! — Komoot’s dotted trail line on the western part of the loop (the first big ascent right after it splits off to the left from the main trail) is not correctly placed. We struggled up a loose scree field attempting to follow the route proposed by the app only to later watch a trail runner easily traverse up a shamefully apparent zigzag trail cutting up through the western scree which we had simply overlooked by trying to follow the Komoot path.

The only Munro in the Skye Trail. It was poor visibility when we made the summit but I am sure the views would be awesome in good weather.

Really tough hike! Only possible for experienced mountaineers / climbers! It gets steeper and steeper and from point 2 you really have to climb. The weather wasn't bad (cloudy, no rain) but the wind was extreme! If the weather had been good, some of us might have made it to the top, so it wasn't possible.
