Câmpulung Muscel is a municipality in the county of Argeş in Muntenia, Romania. It lies between the hills of the Carpathians, at the top of a long, wooded gorge, which is crossed by Râul Târgului, a tributary of the Argeş.

The clean air and the beautiful landscape make Câmpulung a popular summer resort. In addition to a monastery and a cathedral, there are more than twenty churches in the city, both of which claim to have been founded in the 13th century by Radu Negru, the legendary first prince of Wallachia.
