At Pierheim you cross the European main watershed between the Rhine and the Danube. The MD canal has its highest point here at 406 m. There is also a monument to admire. Scheitelhaltung is the name of a sculpture designed by Hannsjörg Voth at the summit of the Main-Danube canal. Its two wall-like parts border the two banks of the canal where it crosses the European watershed, or the watershed between the Main, which flows via the Rhine to the North Sea, and the Danube, which flows to the Black Sea.
