The Protestant Nicolai church from 1783 is located in the center of Halver in the western Brandenburg Sauerland. There have also been church buildings on the site, some already from the 8th century. In 1127 Halver became the independent parish church of St. Nicholas on the Sternberg in the village and carried a seal up to the second half of the 17th century that showed Bishop St. Nicholas standing with a miter, staff and book.
After the Reformation, Halver became Lutheran in 1583 and was also partially Reformed at the end of the 17th century.
On August 17, 1847, the formerly independent Lutheran and Reformed congregations were combined by contract to form the Protestant congregation.
Until 1776, the church building - due to the effects of war and fires, among other things - went through the various styles such as pre-Romanesque, Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque.
The Nicolai Church in its present form was built in two stages: 1776 (tower) and 1784 the three-aisled church with the two galleries.
The tower houses a total of six bells, two of which date back to 1334 and 1520 and were already in service here on the Sternberg before 1776.
After an eventful history, three bells were recast in 1951 and in the same year by the “St. Nicholas" added. In 1960, the death and 1-hour chime bell was cast as the seventh bell.
