The Dufour cave refuge, also called the “Piton des Neiges lodge” is located at an altitude of 2,400 meters. This essential stopover is accessible in summer and winter and has around 70 places divided between dormitories and bungalows. It is strongly recommended to reserve your nights and meals at least 48 hours in advance. Access to water is also limited, so remember to bring enough.

The refuge is very rustic. Due to the exposed location, there is hardly any drinking water. Dinner can be booked by calling the landlord. Drinks can also be bought at the hut.
The hut is a good starting point for the morning climb if you want to see the sunrise on the Piton des Neiges.
