There is also a small allotment garden colony here. Really idyllic and a dream in autumn.

The Lettinsee, together with the Kesselsee and the Dolgensee, is part of the so-called Three Lakes Tour, which you can start at the hiking car park on the B167, for example. There are two bungalow settlements on the shore of the Lettinsee, some of which are banned from entering, so that the bathing area on the southern shore described on some websites is basically not accessible. The northern shore, on the other hand, can be walked on completely and close to the shore, there are a few places where you can get to the lake.

    자주 묻는 질문

What are the main hiking trails around Lettinsee, and what is their difficulty?

The most popular route is the Lettinsee and Klostersee Loop, a 10 km trail that offers a moderate challenge, suitable for most hikers. It guides visitors through lush deciduous forests. Another option is the Three Lakes Tour, which includes the Lettinsee, Kesselsee, and Dolgensee, often starting from the hiking car park on the B167. The terrain generally consists of natural paths through wooded areas, requiring comfortable footwear.

Are there any specific viewpoints or scenic spots around Lettinsee?

While the entire northern shore offers accessible paths close to the water with many picturesque spots, there isn't one single designated 'viewpoint'. The lake is surrounded by rich deciduous forests, providing serene views, especially in autumn. Look for hidden spots along the northern shore where you can get close to the water for photography. The small allotment garden colony also adds to the idyllic scenery.

What are the parking options and public transport connections for visiting Lettinsee?

A primary parking option is the hiking car park on the B167, which serves as a convenient starting point for the Three Lakes Tour. Parking can fill up quickly, especially during peak seasons. For public transport, the lake is located in the Märkische Schweiz Nature Park, approximately nine kilometers northeast of Buckow. Specific bus routes would need to be checked for connections to nearby villages like Karlsdorf or Altfriedland, which are closer to the lake.

Is Lettinsee suitable for a winter hike, and what are the conditions like?

Yes, Lettinsee can be beautiful for winter hikes, especially when the deciduous forests are covered in snow, offering a different kind of tranquility. However, conditions can vary. Trails might be icy or muddy, so appropriate winter footwear with good grip is essential. Always check local weather forecasts before heading out in winter. The area's idyllic charm, including the allotment garden colony, can be particularly enchanting in colder months.

Are dogs allowed around Lettinsee, and are there any specific rules for them?

Dogs are generally welcome on the hiking trails around Lettinsee. However, it's crucial to keep them on a leash, especially given the area's status as a European bird sanctuary and habitat for diverse wildlife like red foxes and wild boar. This helps protect the local fauna and ensures a pleasant experience for all visitors. There are no specific designated dog swimming areas mentioned, and access to the lake can be restricted in some parts due to private property.

What activities are available for families with children at Lettinsee?

Lettinsee offers a peaceful natural setting ideal for family-friendly walks. The easy walking routes around the lake provide opportunities for nature observation, birdwatching, and simply enjoying the outdoors. Children might enjoy spotting wildlife or exploring the diverse flora. The designated swimming area (if accessible) can be a fun activity during warmer months. The 10 km Lettinsee and Klostersee Loop is a moderate trail that older children might enjoy.

Are there any permits required for activities like fishing or hiking at Lettinsee?

Hiking around Lettinsee generally does not require a permit. However, if you plan to fish, you will need a valid fishing license (Fischereischein) and a separate fishing permit (Angelkarte) for the specific body of water. These permits can usually be obtained from local fishing associations or tourist information centers. Always check local regulations before fishing.

What is the maximum depth of Lettinsee, and is it suitable for swimming?

The Lettinsee has a maximum depth of 2.0 meters. There is a designated swimming area, making it suitable for swimming during warmer months. However, it's important to note that some areas of the shore, particularly the southern side, are bordered by bungalow settlements and are not publicly accessible for bathing. The northern shore offers more accessible spots to reach the water.

What kind of wildlife and plant life can be observed around Lettinsee?

As part of the European bird sanctuary Altfriedländer Teich- und Seengebiet, Lettinsee is a prime spot for birdwatching. The surrounding rich deciduous forests feature hornbeams, sessile and pedunculate oaks, and diverse undergrowth with protected plants like liverworts and yellow anemones. The area is also a significant habitat for wildlife, including red foxes and wild boar, offering excellent opportunities for nature observation.

Are there any cafes, restaurants, or accommodation options near Lettinsee?

Lettinsee itself is primarily a natural area with limited direct amenities. For cafes, restaurants, and accommodation, visitors would typically need to venture to nearby towns and villages. Buckow, approximately nine kilometers southwest, and Neuhardenberg, about three kilometers southeast, are larger settlements that offer various dining and lodging options. It's advisable to check in advance for specific establishments.
