The Moomin World, or 'Muumimaailma', is a theme park on Kailo Island near Naantali on the west coast of Finland. The central theme of the park are the Mumins invented by the Finnish-Swedish writer Tove Jansson. Moominworld is not a traditional amusement park, but has a variety of activities and fairytale trails to offer. The most popular attraction of the park is the Muminhaus, a blue five-story building where the Moomin family lives. In addition to the Muminhaus, Hemulens Haus, Muminmama's kitchen, the fire station, Snufkins tent and Moominpapa's boat can all be visited. You can also meet the Mumins in the Moomin World, follow the Toffle Trail or discover the Witches Labyrinth, the Hatifnatten Caves and the Morra House. There are several performances every day in the Park's Emma Theater.
In 2005, the Moomin World was named the fourth best children's theme park in the UK by The Independent on Sunday, and in 2008 another international prize, the Pony Award for Theme Parks, followed. The park is open from mid-June to mid-August and in February during a one-week winter carnival.
