The Bad Windsheim Roland is a war memorial in Bad Windsheim, on the market square near Kilian's Church.
The war memorial for the fallen soldiers of the Franco-Prussian War 1870/71 and the First World War, inaugurated on September 16, 1928, shows the pillar figure of a knight reminiscent of a statue of Roland. Strictly speaking, the term “Roland” is misleading because it refers to a statue of a knight in armor and with a bare sword, as they were erected in the Middle Ages as a symbol for certain city rights. Instead, the Bad Windsheim sculpture is reminiscent of war dead and is still relatively young.
