The North Holland Dune Reserve (Dutch: Noordhollands Duinreservaat) is an extensive nature reserve in the dune belt between Wijk aan Zee and Bergen aan Zee in the Dutch province of North Holland.
Access to the northern nature reserve Schoorlse Duinen is free. A dune card, an admission card, is required for the Noordhollands Duinreservaat in the south. There are daily, weekly or annual tickets which are available from various sales outlets. You can buy a day ticket from the machine at the entrance or with your smartphone. Most accommodations in Bergen Aan Zee include an access card with your stay.
At about 50 m above sea level, one of the dunes is the highest point in the province of North Holland. Numerous hiking and cycling trails lead through this area. It also serves to produce drinking water by pumping brackish water into this area and collecting it again below the sand layer. A large number of Scottish highland cattle have been abandoned in the dune reserve to prevent the formation of forest areas.
